Labor/Hospital (July 31st)

Pregnancy-We had just found out about gregs dads pancreatic cancer diagnosis on November 9th.  I was a week late for my period and we had just moved into our house about a month ago on October 16th.  I took a pregnancy test on November 19th and it was slightly positive.  I called and set up an appt with the doctor for January 5th.  We scheduled an initial ultrasound december 15th. Greg couldnt be there because greg had covid so our boys couldn't go to daycare so we had to facetime. December 9th boys had ENT appt and blakes tubes were almost out so follow up in 2 months and if out and no issues then he would be released from ENT.  I felt great with the pregnancy until about 6 weeks and then was miserable.  Worst pregnancy first trimester i have had so far.  Also having migraines often.  Greg said “youve never complained about pregnancy this much” Our initial ultrasound appt went well-no issues.  I felt sick until about 15 weeks but still continued to have occasional migraines.  I craved sugar this pregnancy and did not want water which is the opposite of the boys pregnancy. Feb 3-Follow up with ENT and tubes out and released from ENT. Out to eat at firebirds for my birthday. March 9th-20 weeks ultrasound and found out its a girl.  Everything looked normal except i had low lying placenta.  Recheck in 4 weeks at heart echo ultrasound.  March 27th to splash to celebrate gregs company selling.  Grant soccer in the spring with happy feet.  April 27th passed glucose test. Blake started having jerks first week of May.  first jerk outside playing in the pool. Super hot outside. Designers to design main floor. Did a good job to stage the house but not to live in.  may 16th baby shower at leslies house for claire. Jims wedding night out may 22nd.  Nana retired memorial day to be able to watch claire once shes here.  Memorial day young family trip.  Last trip as a family with gregs dad.  Bad weather. Boys had fun fishing with gregs dad and swimming.  Blake having jerks and really tired. June 8th appt with secory to talk about jerks.  Blakes EEG june 18th. Diagnosed with myoclonic epilepsy.  Maternity pictures june 22nd.  Very hot and humid. Met with doctor tripathy.  Did not like. July 1st-1 cm not effaced basically like ive had babies before.  July 6th-blake MRI and started coughing and had fever next day and 2 days later (July 8th) blake into secory for steroids.  July 13th-long cervix finger tip.  Grant in swim lessons July12th week. July 20th 1 cm effaced sunny side up so rude to me. July 23rd mucus started. July 26-3cm dilated and 70% effaced. Induced July 31st.

I called at 5 am to see if we could go in and they told me they were busy and to call back at 10.  Grant had soccer that day and so we went and I called at 10 and they told me to come in! It is a lot less stressful calmly getting ready to go to the hospital for labor than my other two labors.

Once we arrived at the hospital, they started my IV, took my labs and started the pitocin.  I didnt feel anything at first.  They checked position of baby and nurse said she though she was sunny side up.  Shortly after the doctor came in and broke my water.  Initially I was going to hold off on the epidural because baby was sunny side up and nurse said its easier to change positions without epidural but then changed my mind and decided to get epidural.  Good thing i did!  Once it was in it only worked on my left side so nurse had me lay on my right side.  All of a sudden i had this intense feeling of nausea and told Greg to call the nurse.  She came in and said she would get me medicine and asked if I felt pressure. I said yes and she checked me and I was ready to start pushing!  She said “I knew you were good at having babies but I didn't think it would be that quick!” The epidural still wasn't working on the right side so the nurse had been pushing the extra medicine button.  The doctor came in shortly after and when I started pushing I almost peed on the doctor!  She was very good at avoiding my pee per Greg.  I was able to feel the contraction but not the pain which was good.  The right sided pain was better after the nurse pushed the button for me a few times.  While pushing the doctor saw she was sunny side up and flipped her around for me. I pushed for a few minutes and she was out!

Claire Louise Young was born at 2:35!

I tore more than I expected and the nurse said it was because she came out with her head and arm.  I was still super numb once it was over because of the nurse pushing the button so many times to help me in labor.  There is a time limit to get out of bed and I had to use a special wheeling thing to get me to the bathroom.  Everything went smooth in the hospital.

Greg cutting the cord!

She already loves her Mom!  I tore more than I expected and the nurse said it was because she came out with her head and arm.  I was still super numb once it was over because of the nurse pushing the button so many times to help me in labor.  There is a time limit to get out of bed and I had to use a special wheeling thing to get me to the bathroom.  But everything went smooth in the hospital.

She was not happy about the bright lights and being out in this cold world.

She already has her Daddy's heart!

She weighs 7 pounds 7 ounces and is the biggest of my 3 babies!

She was happier once we got her back in a blanket and in my arms.  She was an angel during our hospital stay and slept quietly so well!

She nursed well right away!

She didn't love her first bath until she got the warm water on her.  She doesn't like being cold! She did not like her footprints though!

We could only have 2 visitors at a time and so we had our parents and that was it.  Papa and Nana came to see Claire!

Grandma and Grandpa came to see Claire too!

We spent the rest of the time cuddling and taking pictures of our little girl!

We were headed home about 24 hours later.  Greg went home to be with the boys at night and didn't stay at the hospital.  I don't sleep well in the hospital and I was ready to go home to see my boys.  Claire was doing so well there was no need to stay! There was a chance she could have jaundice because of Greg and I's different blood types but we didn't notice any so far.  Claire had no idea what chaos was in store for her once she got home!

Grant is on Hive Pack Hoops and it has been a frustrating season for the team. It was fun to watch Grant score a free throw though. He was so proud of himself!

I tried to make cinnamon sugar sourdough bread and it still didn't turn out like I thought. The kids still wouldn't eat it which was my goal. AND it was a lot of work. So fail on that part but hoping to try bagels next and I have heard they are easier and better.
