9th Month of Blake

May 16th-June 15th

We took Blake into the doctor to get his ears checked out and Blake had already been breathing funny and the doctor said he should go to the ER.  We did a breathing treatment and gave him steroids to help and I was to take him home and watch him and take him to the ER if he was constantly breathing over 40 breaths per minute or getting lethargic.  He was breathing over 40 breaths per minute but his activity and energy level was normal so it as hard to decide if he needed to go to the ER.  We ended up taking Blake to the ER that night and they sent us home.  I stayed home and watched him all day Friday.  I made Greg go to Target at 9:00 at night to get the owlet to monitor his oxygen level.  Our doctor said kids don't go slowly downhill, they go off a cliff.  So I was so worried we would have to call an ambulance in the middle of the night.  The next morning when I went in to wake Blake up, I could tell he was lethargic and I called my parents right away to come over and watch Grant because we were going to the ER.  Greg thought I was crazy at first since they just sent us home a day ago, but I knew it was bad now.  They got us right in at the ER and got him on some oxygen.  They had to keep titrating it up in home his struggle of breathing would go down.  We then knew we were going to the PICU for him.  He was there 5 days.  He was very lethargic the first few days but never dropped his oxygen.  We tried to feed him bottles and nurse but it was too much for him so they ended up putting in a feeding tube.  I was not excited about him getting one put in but it did not bother him and it helped so much.  We got discharged on Thursday and then followed up with our pediatrician on Friday morning.  I was not comfortable with him going home because I felt he needed to be there another day.  When we went to the pediatrician he was amazed they sent us home with him still this bad.  He got better over the next few days thankfully and was back to his energetic self.  It was quite the scary experience.

Blake's home and Grant is so excited! It was very confusing for Grant why Blake was not home and Mom and Dad were gone so much.  He is happy his family is back together!

This was right before we went to the doctor and Blake was still all giggles for Grant!

Caught a rare moment of Grant playing well all by himself!

Such a cute video of Grant talking on the phone!

Blake is getting so good at sitting in the "beep beep" car with his brother!

Grant loves popcorn!  He is just shoveling that popcorn in his mouth.

Blake is just busy making more of a mess in our mess of a house!  It is keeping him entertained and busy so we let him.

I got a couple hours away to celebrate Steph's birthday! It was only a few hours but it was so fun to see my friends after such a long week.

Greg farted at the table and so Grant decided Daddy had to go in time out.  You can tell he is copying what we do and then went to sit with him and talk about what he did.  So cute but man, they are watching our every move.

Blake loves the remote just like Grant did!

Blakes ready to eat!  They were all so cute I couldn't decide which ones to add.  We love seeing Blake's smiles.

He is just such a handsome boy!

I finally got Blake to giggle so good for me!  Usually it is only Grant who can do that!

We have been playing Robot Blake and running around the house.  I did this with Grant when it was cold and miserable outside and we needed to get some energy out and Grant loves it!  He "transforms" into Robot Blaze and runs around our house.

We celebrated Leslie's bridal shower.  It was a beautiful shower and fun to have all of the family in town.  The cousins thought it would be fun to have Grant go through the doggy door and my Dad was "giving" Blake wine. So a good experience there ;-).

Grant thinks Dad needs to clean up his mess in the garage just like Mommy does.

Blake ended up getting an ear infection after the hospital stay.  We knew he would and we asked the resident before he was discharged and the resident said his ears looked fine but we went to follow up with our pediatrician and he said Blake has a horrible ear infection.  So we made an appointment with the ENT and he will be getting ear tubes later this month.

Grant is still getting hives randomly.  I tried to stop the zyrtec and they came back so I am going to continue to to give the zyrtec throughout the summer and see what happens this fall.

We took the boys to the zoo and they had so much fun.  Of course, Grant's favorite part was the train!

I must of felt I didn't have enough pictures of Grant so he had a quick photo shoot for me!  I love the scrunched up nose smile and picking his nose is just perfect picture of Grant.  We sure to love him!

Grant learned how to ride his big boy bike!  We are so proud of him and he is proud of himself.  I love the helmet Greg found for him.  It fits him just perfectly.

I found some matching train shirts for the boys.  It isn't a steamy like Thomas but they still love their shirts and Grant loves matching with Blake.

This Noah's Ark toy was one of Grant's favorite toys and one that kept him entertained the longest and now Blake has big smiles and loves this toy as well.

I love watching Blake and Grant playing together.  We hope they will be the best of friends.

Blake loves the Paw Patrol chair.  He loves climbing up into the chair and it is a perfect size for him!

We got Blake out in his tricycle since Grant was riding his big boy bike and Blake was so happy!!

Blake starting standing up to his toy and he is just getting so big!  He isn't super sturdy and falls down (as you can see from the video) but he is determined to keep trying until he gets it!

This has been a rough month for Blake.  He started it in the PICU with 3 viruses.  And he ended up with another ear infection which got him ear tubes.  The ENT doctor said his eustachian tubes were not functioning properly and he will keep getting ear infections until he gets tubes.  I was worried about the surgery since it was 3 weeks since he was in the PICU but he did well.  He did not handle anesthesia like his brother and was very mad when he woke up pretty much all day long.  He was better the next day. We are hoping after the tubes, his eating and sleeping will get better.  He is almost 21 lbs and is moving all over to keep up with his brother!

Grant is on Hive Pack Hoops and it has been a frustrating season for the team. It was fun to watch Grant score a free throw though. He was so proud of himself!

I tried to make cinnamon sugar sourdough bread and it still didn't turn out like I thought. The kids still wouldn't eat it which was my goal. AND it was a lot of work. So fail on that part but hoping to try bagels next and I have heard they are easier and better.
